Fifty years ago, no one would have guessed that a high school track coach and a first grade teacher would forever change the way outdoorsmen and women in the MidWest would access hunting and fishing information. There were precious few sources for solid how-to outdoors information.

From a makeshift publishing office in their suburban home to a steal-of-a-deal on an office building where a murder occurred (you read that right), MidWest Outdoors has grown substantially in those 50 years. Today, we’re a multimedia company reaching thousands of passionate individuals in the outdoor community on a daily basis. No matter the platform however, the heart has always been the same. Hear how “Helping You Enjoy the Outdoors” got its start in this visit with Gene and Gail Laulunen, the pioneers of MidWest Outdoors.
